Convert between hundreds of units across length, weight, volume, area, temperature, and speed categories. Fast, free, and accurate.

How it works

Convert via a base unit: value → base = value × factor(from); base → target = base ÷ factor(to). Temperature uses offsets rather than pure factors.

Worked example

Converting 5 miles to kilometres: 5 × 1,609.344 m = 8,046.7 m, then ÷ 1,000 = 8.047 km.

Frequently asked questions

Why do temperatures need a different formula?

Celsius and Fahrenheit have offset zero points, so they need addition as well as multiplication. Kelvin, with an absolute zero, converts by a straight offset from Celsius.

US or imperial gallons?

They differ by about 20% — 3.785 l versus 4.546 l. Always confirm which system a recipe, fuel figure or spec sheet uses.

How do area and volume factors work?

Square the linear factor for area and cube it for volume. One foot is 0.3048 m, so 1 sq ft is 0.0929 m² and 1 cu ft is 0.0283 m³.
