GPA Calculator

Calculate your semester and cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. Enter courses, grades, and credit hours for instant GPA calculation.

How it works

GPA = Σ(grade points × credit hours) ÷ Σ credit hours, where A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, F = 0.

Worked example

An A (4.0) in 3 credits and a B (3.0) in 4 credits gives (12 + 12) ÷ 7 = 3.43 GPA. The 4-credit course carries more weight than the 3-credit one.

Frequently asked questions

What is a weighted GPA?

A scale where honours, AP or IB courses add 0.5–1.0 per grade, so a weighted GPA can exceed 4.0. Unweighted GPA caps at 4.0 regardless of course difficulty.

How much can one bad grade hurt?

It depends on total credits. A single C in 3 credits barely moves a 90-credit GPA, but can drop a first-semester GPA by several tenths.

How do I calculate the GPA I need?

Work backwards: required points = target GPA × total credits, minus points already earned. Divide by remaining credits to see the average grade needed.
